The networked world's social habits are changing. As email revolutionised business communication, so social networking has profoundly changed how people interact privately, and even how they start and end relationships. That’s why ESET Ireland has commissioned a survey carried out by Amárach Research on 850 people, to reveal how Irish people react online and on social media after an emotionally stressful event of a relationship break-up.

Young people have a natural interest in using modern technologies such as internet and social networking sites like Facebook. These technologies can be very beneficial when used properly but there are some dangers too. This programme will highlight simple ways which will help to keep our children safe. The event will take place in the Mayo Education Centre, Westport Road, Castlebar on Tuesday September 27 from 7pm to 9pm. The event is free of charge. LookWest.ie, the Western Development Commission’s (WDC) online guide to living, working and doing business in Ireland’s western region, has been shortlisted for a social media award. The awards, which celebrate the best of social media, are organised by Damien Mulley, one of Ireland’s leading authorities on social media. Winners will be selected by a panel of judges comprising a combination of industry experts and members of the public who have been selected as judges because of their interest and knowledge in online social networking.
