Galway Hospice has been at the heart of the local community for decades, caring for patients and families living with life limiting illnesses. Each year, the hospice must raise more than €2.3 million to provide its vital services. Without the support of the people of Galway, the hospice simply could not continue to provide care to those who need it.

A few years back, I and other Councillors were approached by the board and management of Galway Hospice seeking support to build a new modern state of the art facility on the grounds of Merlin Park. They explained that prior to selecting this site they had examined many other locations throughout Galway.
