Corofin players need to steer clear of the hype and remain focused

image preview

Having broken bread on a few occasions with former Kerry All-Ireland winning captain Dara Ó Cinnéide, I know that one of his main sporting regrets is losing the All-Ireland club final in 2004 to a relatively unknown side from Galway called Caltra by a point (0-13 to 0-12).

Tuam Stadium on Saturday evening

In Tuam Stadium on Saturday evening there is an attractive double header with Tuam Stars and Mountbellew/Moylough (5.45pm), followed by St James taking on Caltra at 7.30pm.

Salthill-Knocknacarra far too strong for St Michael’s

The other senior city sides, Salthill-Knocknacarra and St Michael’s were also in action last weekend at Pearse Stadium and Gerry Hughes’ men had it all too easy winning on a score-line of 0-13 to 0-5.

Cortoon Shamrocks v Caltra (Sunday 2pm, Tuam Stadium)

These sides met four weeks ago in the league over in Caltra and Cortoon won by two points, 1-10 to 1-8. Expect another tight game on Sunday.

Caltra the form team

The best game of the weekend by far was the enthralling encounter of Caltra and an improved Tuam Stars. The game had everything and provided superb entertainment.
