The Residential Tenancies Board (RTB) has launched a new campaign in partnership with Galway County Council to ensure landlords register their tenancies as required by law. The initiative follows research by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) last year that suggested 7.6% of tenancies in Galway County that should be registered with the RTB are not.

Late fees for late tenancy registration

Since March 1, 2024, the RTB have resumed the charging of late fees for late tenancy registration.

Tenancies must now be registered annually with RTB public body

The Residential Tenancies Board (RTB) has confirmed that all landlords must register each tenancy with the RTB every year, the registration being completed within one month of the anniversary of when the tenancy began.
