Campaigners fighting to restore the Naomh Eanna, which plied the route between the city and the Aran Islands, are beginning to admit defeat that the famous ship will ever return to the west.

However if a financial plan is not established within a number of weeks there is a risk that the Naomh Eanna will have to be consigned to the scrapyard and Galway will lose out on an attraction which could, in time, be worth millions to the local economy.
Aran Island vessel to be the subject of TG4 documentary
A documentary exploring the history of a cargo vessel which ferried passengers and freight between Galway and the Aran Islands for more than 30 years will be shown on TG4 on Sunday November 9.
