Galway University Hospitals is set to meet its target of a nine month waiting list for adult inpatients and a 20-week waiting time for children by September.

There are more than 46,000 people currently on waiting lists for outpatient appointments at Galway University Hospitals but that figure is dropping every week, the HSE has said in a statement.

The appointment of three new consultants at Galway University Hospitals will help the facilities develop additional clinical services, the clinical director of the Galway/ Roscommon Hospital Group Dr David O’Keeffe said this week.
