GMIT students mourn the tragic loss of Sara and Dace
The funerals of the two young GMIT students who were killed in a fire in a student residence in Belgium will take place in the coming days as family, classmates, friends, and staff of the technical institute mourn the tragic loss together in Galway.
Harris and Ruttelynck exhibition coming up at the Custom House
The Custom House Studios at Westport quay and Westport Arts Festival will present exhibition of paintings by Pat Harris and Linda Ruttelynck which opens on Friday October 4 at 7.30pm and runs until Sunday October 27. Pat Harris was born in Dublin in 1953 and studied at the National College of Art and Design from 1973 to 1978 and at The National Higher Institute of Fine Art Antwerp, graduating in 1981. In 2008 he was awarded a PhD in fine art by the University of Antwerp. He has exhibited widely in Europe and he lives in Belgium and teaches painting at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp. Linda Ruttelynck teaches drawing and graphics at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. She has shown her work at numerous venues across Europe and in the USA. In addition to being included in various private collections her work is also represented in the public collections of the Belgian state, Province of Antwerp, the Prentenkabinet, and the Mercatorcollection Antwerp, Boyle Civic Collection, and Ballinglen Arts Foundation.
Experience the Battlefields of WWI with Kavanagh Travel
Kavanagh Travel is offering an Easter tour to the Battlefield of WW1 from April 21 to 26. Kavanagh Travel will collect travellers from the Kilkenny area and also along the route to Dublin where they will take the ferry from Dublin Port to Holyhead. From there the journey will continue across Pennines to Hull and board the overnight cruise ferry to Zeebrugge.
