A man who is accused of putting a nail-bar down his trousers in Woodies on the Headford Road and making no attempt to pay for it is also accused of stealing a pliers from Halford’s on the same day. He is also in custody on charges of using a lump hammer to break the lock of an e-scooter, and was again remanded in custody until the December 22 sitting of Galway District Court.

A MAN who, it is alleged, equipped himself with a large lump hammer and other tools to smash the locks of e-scooters over a weekend claimed he was looking for his son’s e-scooter when he was brought before Galway District Court.

His call comes as an alliance of five city authorities in the Netherlands – considered a global leader in cycling infrastructure – has called on the Dutch parliament to ban a number of high-speed electric bikes and scooters from using bicycle lanes, as well as increasing fines for travelling on footpaths.
