Galway startup is paving the way for paperless receipts
Contactless payments and the proliferation of cash apps have seen a move towards a cashless society in recent years, and this has been accelerated by the pandemic. In tandem with this trend towards paperless money, three young entrepreneurs from Galway are leading the way in developing paperless receipts.
IT professionals are slow to move from paper records
A new survey among IT professionals in Ireland and the UK has found that 86 per cent of senior IT professionals are still reliant on paper records, with over half of these (51 per cent) stating that they are very reliant. Just one per cent of respondents stated that they “hardly ever” have to rely on paper records while the remaining 13 per cent admitted being “occasionally reliant”. The research was carried out by document management software company Version One among 86 senior IT professionals across a range of UK and Irish public and private sector organisations.
Croí boost for heart surgery unit
The west of Ireland Cardiac Surgical Centre at University Hospital Galway is pushing the boundaries of clinical information technology, thanks to support from local heart charity Croí which this week presented state-of-the-art portable technology to the medical staff in the unit.
