Four cousins for the summit - Alan Kerins Caps to the Summit event to take place this September

Four Galway-born first cousins are climbing Ireland's highest mountain, Carrauntoohil, in aid of the Alan Kerins Project. Alan's sister Miriam Kerins, along with cousins Aoife Lynskey-Keane, Brenda Kerins, and Martina Kerins will take part in the Caps to the Summit challenge this September. The four are hoping to raise €10,000 for the worthy cause which supports community and youth leadership development projects in Zambia.

The only Roscommon man ever to play rugby for Ireland, Leo Galvin, is one of those featured in the new book, 100 Irish Rugby Greats. Born into a farming family in Taughmaconnell, Galvin’s career with Athlone and Connacht spanned three decades. A former captain and president of Athlone RFC and Connacht, he was one of the driving forces behind the club’s amalgamation with Ballinasloe to form Buccaneers.
