As part of the Older Person’s Council in Mayo's affiliation to the WHO Global Network of Age Friendly Cities and communities, county Mayo is committed to working towards becoming an age-friendly county and creating an inclusive, equitable society in which older people can live full, active, valued and healthy lives.

An open invitation was extended to older people and to organisations and groups that represent older people, to attend a meeting in Lough Lannagh on Monday, last October 10, to progress the setting up of an Older People’s Council in Mayo. The Setting up the Older People Council is an essential component to the roll out of the Age Friendly Strategy which was launched by An Taoiseach Enda Kenny in June of this year .
