It is difficult to believe any county could suffer the heartbreak of losing five All-Ireland senior finals in any code in the space of 14 years. Yet that is the painfully cold statistic that faces Galway Camogie after another shattering defeat in a senior decider last Sunday in Croke Park.

After the bitter disappointment of last year’s two-point defeat to Wexford in the All-Ireland final there is a strong belief this year’s Galway camogie panel can collect the senior title on Sunday in Croke Park (4pm) when they face Wexford again.

Galway 2-13

Galway will face Wexford again this year in the All-Ireland senior camogie final on September 11 at Croke Park after Noel Finn’s team had an impressive 2-13 to 2-7 victory over Kilkenny on Saturday afternoon in Nowlan Park.

The Galway senior camogie team heads to the capital on Saturday with high hopes of registering a win over a Dublin side that has yet to collect any points from their four games.

The Galway senior Camogie team will face Offaly this Saturday in the All-Ireland series at Pearse Stadium at 5pm in a double header with the Galway v Clare All-Ireland hurling championship tie.

Wexford 3-10

There was disappointment for the Kilkenny senior camogie girls as they were caught by a late Galway flurry in Nowlan Park last Sunday as their league hopes were ended. Kilkenny led by four points at the interval —1-6 to 0-5 and a 45th minute goal from Shelley Farrell followed by a close range free by Aoife Neary restored that four point gap.
