The finest amateur drama talent in the country will head to Claregalway from tonight (Thursday) March 13 when the Claregalway Drama Festival gets under way at the local leisure centre.

One of the definite highlights of this year’s Galway Arts Festival is Enda Walsh’s Misterman which sees him reunited with Cillian Murphy for the first time since their feted collaboration on Disco Pigs 15 years ago.

DRUID’S EXCITING Galway Arts Festival season of Enda Walsh work got off to a compelling start on Monday with the Irish premiere of his “coiled, dark, glitter-dusted fable”, The New Electric Ballroom, which Walsh also directed.

AND SO the curtain falls on another year of playgoing and diverse theatrical activity; a year that saw much impressive work from both visiting and locally based companies.

CHRISTY MOORE, Liam Clancy, Virginia Kerr, Druid Theatre Company, and Opera UK are among the highlights in Town Hall Theatre’s programme for the coming months.

THIS YEAR will finally see the reopening of the Druid theatre following an extensive refurbishment, while the company itself is set to give 335 performances in 26 venues in Ireland, Britain, the USA, Canada, and Australia.
