Music for Galway’s 41st International Concert Season opens with a new initiative, the Galway Encore; the opening concert, scheduled for tonight Thursday September 29 at 8.00 pm at the Emily Anderson Concert Hall in the University of Galway, will also see a repeat performance in Christ Church in Portumna tomorrow, September 30 at the same time.

Music for Galway (MfG) is thrilled to announce what looks like the first season with audiences in attendance in three years. For its 41st International Concert Season 2022/23, artistic director Finghin Collins decided to put the focus on J.S. Bach: “Beethoven called him ‘the immortal god of harmony’ and it is no exaggeration to say that Bach has influenced every composer who followed him” says Mr Collins.

IF HEARING Bach’s Goldberg Variations for the first time, at the age of 14, was not life changing for cellist Natalie Clein, it was close to that - a profound sense of awe which has stayed with her to this day.
