A 32-year-old man with 56 previous convictions was sentenced to 11 months in jail for burglary and fraud offences at Galway District Court this week.

A 25-year-old Limerick man charged with driving a stolen car dangerously is now at large having escaped from custody during transportation, the Galway District Court heard this week.

With the Galway Racing Festival soon to get under way Galway gardai have devised a strategic traffic plan to ease traffic congestion, and to direct festival goers to the racecourse as smoothly as possible.
