Rally fans advised to respect other road users
After a weekend of carnage on our roads, the Mayo Road Safety Working together Group have issued a road safety appeal to everyone attending the Mayo Stages Rally on Sunday, March 8, in the Castlebar area saying that road safety is everyone’s responsibility and there is one essential ingredient required for everyone’s safety and that is personnel responsibility.
Award winning Road Safety efforts by Mayo County Council
Mayo County Council has been named overall winner of the Road Safety Award 2016 in the Public Sector Awards Magazine. Mayo County Council and the Mayo Road Safety Working Group are delighted to accept this award for their work in promoting road safety awareness.
Mayo motorists urged to take part in National Slow Down Day
Mayo County Council's road safety office is encouraging motorists to take part in National Slow Down Day which takes place this year between 7am today Friday May 27 and 7am on Saturday May 28. Signs will be put on display around the county with the message "Drive slow - See Our County - Drive fast - See a Summons".
Mayo man is Road Safety Officer of the Year
Noel Gibbons, road safety officer with Mayo County Council, has won the Road Safety Officer of the Year Award from the Irish road victims association. At a presentation to mark the occasion in Mullingar at the Global light of hope awards 2015, Mr Gibbons was honoured for his work promoting road safety in Mayo through creative and informative road safety campaigns, and his ongoing efforts to support and complement the work of the Road Safety Authority and An Garda Síochána through road safety awareness campaigns.
