Galway City Council took home the prestigious ‘Festival of the Year’ Award at the 2025 Chambers Ireland Excellence in Local Government Awards, announced at a national ceremony. The ‘Galway Climate Inspirations Festival – Communities in Action’ festival beat off stiff competition from the Dublin City Sensoria Festival, Howth Maritime and Seafood Festival, Brigid - Spirit of Kildare Festival, Willie Clancy Traditional Music Summer School and Kilkenny’s Toil and Trouble to bring the award home to Galway City.

We lose one mainstay of our public representation over the past three decades, and welcome back one who has shaped the city for the past four.
