Thousands throng Prom for COPE Galway 28th Annual Christmas Day Swim
Huge crowds turned out for this year’s Christmas Day Swim at Blackrock, Salthill, in aid of COPEGalway’s Services for people experiencing homelessness, domestic violence, and recipients of services for older people in Galway. An estimated 8-10,000 people thronged the steps of Blackrock in what has become an annual family tradition for those living in and returning to Galway for Christmas.

The annual COPE Galway Christmas Day Swim is 28 years in existence this year and the local charity is calling on all in Galway on the day to don the togs and the t-shirt and hop into the sea at Blackrock, Salthill to raise much needed funds for COPE Galway services.
Charities benefit as hurling stars attend AIB community event.
AIB Galway hosted a community event for COPE Galway and Galway Hospice last week in the Clayton Hotel in Ballybrit. In attendance was GAA Hurler of the Year Joe Canning and his fellow All-star teammate Gearoid Mc Inerney. More than 300 people attended the event to help raise funds for the two charities. Over €1,500 was raised which will be split evenly amongst the two charities.
All Ireland winners are championing Galway charities
Galway hurling team players will champion two great causes, Galway Hospice and COPE Galway, in a community event hosted by AIB Galway staff.
