Athletes with their families and friends, club coaches and officials, gathered at Gowran Park Racecourse on Friday night last. It wasn’t to run or train but to enjoy the cuisine and ambience of the racecourse restaurant while celebrating another very successful year for athletics in the county.

Friday night was awards night for the County Kilkenny athletics community. Athletes, family members, and friends gathered in The Parish Pump, Rosbercon, where they dined lavishly on the fine fare laid on by host club, St Joseph’s, under the guidance of super-cook Trudy Power.

Hundreds of spectators turned out onto the streets of Castlecomer this New Year’s Day to view the annual wellie race parade and take part in the world renowned wellie race which celebrated its 30th birthday this year.
