Music for Galway (MfG) is thrilled to announce what looks like the first season with audiences in attendance in three years. For its 41st International Concert Season 2022/23, artistic director Finghin Collins decided to put the focus on J.S. Bach: “Beethoven called him ‘the immortal god of harmony’ and it is no exaggeration to say that Bach has influenced every composer who followed him” says Mr Collins.

One of the cornerstones of the Galway cultural season, The Galway Early Music Festival – “Musica et Scientia”, May 27-29, is live and hybrid in 2022 with a dazzling programme featuring music and the stars, the harmony of the planets in their orbits, the music of mathematics and geometry, music in art, and the music at the heart of the Universe.

THIS YEAR'S Galway Early Music Festival, which runs from Friday May 25 to Sunday 27, is filled with gods and faeries, heroes, and heroines, and a feast of magical Mediaeval, Renaissance and Baroque music. With Myths and Legends as the theme, it explores the musical inspiration of classical mythology, Celtic myth, and medieval legend.

JOHANN SEBASTIAN Bach's Overture in the French Style will be performed on harpsichord by the acclaimed Irish musician, Malcolm Proud, in a lunchtime concert for Music For Galway.
