The links between Ireland and Canada were celebrated in the twinning of County Galway town Athenry with Renews-Cappahayden in Newfoundland.

The Custom House Studios at Westport Quay is currently hosting an exhibition of works by over 42 artists and it will run every day until January 20. Participating artists are from all across Ireland and from overseas. Then opening on January 24 will be an exhibition from Paddy Lamb entitled Memory of Absence. This exhibition will be opened by His Excellency, Loyola Hearn, Ambassador of Canada to Ireland at 7.30pm on Thursday, January 24.

The Canadian Ambassador to Ireland Loyola Hearn visited the Midlands this week and spent some time visiting projects associated with the development agency Atlantic Corridor. The agency has links in Canada through the Ireland-Canada Chamber.
