Galway Mayo Institute of Technology is offering 120 free part-time places on six courses as part of this year’s Springboard initiative for jobseekers announced at the weekend.

Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT), Letterkenny Institute of Technology (LYIT) and Institute of Technology, Sligo (IT Sligo) have formed a new strategic partnership, the Connacht-Ulster Alliance, with the aim of achieving Technological University status.

GMIT is one of five institutes of technology in the Border, Midlands and West (BMW) region currently at an advanced stage in discussions regarding the establishment of a technological university.

A conference on the experience of ethnic minority workers in accessing higher education and training will be held in the Hodson Bay Hotel, Athlone next Thursday, December 4.
