Kilkenny resident rewarded for contribution to local tourism
It was champagne all round at the National Ploughing Championships last week where County Kilkenny resident Kevin McMahon, Archers Grove, was awarded a long service certificate by holiday lettings company The Hoseasons Group for partnering with it over the past 15 years.
The Minutes to headline Father Ted fancy dress party
Father Ted will be the order of the night next Saturday night, July 16, as Finbar Hoban Presents... Father Ted fancy dress party with live music coming from The Minutes with support from Dead School and C O Neill and Co. Prizes will be held for best dressed Father Ted character and there will be a mock Mass to entertain everybody with Father Ted and Father Dougal and Father Jack presiding over the ceremonies. Mrs Doyle will also be on hand to offer you a nice cup of tea and Marc Conway will provide the soundtrack for the evening with Ghost Town.
The Minutes time their entrance at the Set
Dublin trio The Minutes are coming to Kilkenny for a live gig in the Set Theatre. The band will be playing a late show with a late DJ/club following the gig.
Prospect Hill en fete in the 1960s
This photograph was taken by Helen Spellman in the early 1960s and shows Prospect Hill all decorated with banners and flags. There appears to be the beginnings of a religious procession at the very top of the hill, which presumably was the reason for all of the colour.
