Several hundred people are expected to attend the GMIT Spirit of Entrepreneurship event in GMIT Castlebar on Monday September 19 to hear about funding sources and supports for start-ups.

Over 170 people attended the “Spirit of Entrepreneurship” annual event hosted by the Innovation in Business Centre (IiBC) at Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT) in Castlebar last week.

The Innovation in Business Centre (IiBC) at GMIT Castlebar is staging a Spirit of Entrepreneurship evening, sponsored by Allergan Pharmaceuticals Ireland, on Thursday September 30 next.

Two leading entrepreneur businessmen, Jonathan Ruane from Eventovate and Leonard Moran from Ovagen, will address this year’s Enterprise Evening hosted by the Innovation in Business Centre (IiBC) at Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT) Castlebar.

Eventovate, a Ballina based software company, was one of three finalists in Bank of Ireland's Bright Ideas Challenge. The national final of the competition was held on March 5 in the House of Lords, College Green, in Dublin. Eventovate enables hotels to offer additional added value services to customers booking events and conferences; while also allowing them to improve the management, booking, and delivery of the events. The company was established in 2008 by brothers Jonathan and Jason Ruane.

Eventovate Limited, a Ballina based technology company that has pioneered a new software and business platform that revolutionises the hotel events market, was recently chosen as the winner of the west regional final of Bank of Ireland’s Bright Ideas Challenge held in The Ardilaun hhotel in Galway. Established in 2008 by brothers Jonathan and Jason Ruane, the company’s software enables the hotel industry to generate more value and profit from their events business. This groundbreaking technology provides a cohesive set of applications for both the hotel and its customers, for example a wedding couple or a conference organiser.

The Ardilaun Hotel has become the first in Galway to launch a new online wedding service called Moposa.
