TÍR NA nÓg, the legendary folk-rock duo of Leo O’Kelly and Sonny Condell have reunited in recent years to great acclaim and they play The Gallery Cafe, Gort, on Sunday June 14 at 8.30pm.

Horslips matter. They mattered in the 1970s and their reunion proves they matter still. Why? Perhaps, to quote from the opening narration of Return of The Dancehall Sweethearts, the 2005 documentary on the band, “We saw in Horslips something that was ours, something that was of us...[they are] part of what makes us, us.”

Early in 1968 a group of young British musicians, born from the ashes of various failed regional bands, gathered together in hunger, destitution, and modest optimism in Luton, north of London. With a common love of blues and an appreciation, among them, of various other music forms, they started to win over a small but enthusiastic audience in the various pubs and clubs of southern England. The breakthrough came when they were offered the Thursday night residency at London’s famous Marquee Club in Wardour Street, Soho.

TÍR NA nÓg are experiencing something of a revival and for the first time in several years the duo of Sonny Condell and Leo O’Kelly join forces to play The Crane Bar, Sea Road, on Thursday September 18 at 9pm.
