This June, during World Haemochromatosis Awareness Week (1st–7th June 2026), the Irish Haemochromatosis Association (IHA) is calling on the public to recognise the symptoms of haemochromatosis, also known as iron overload, and seek testing earlier. Haemochromatosis is Ireland’s most common genetic condition.

Mayo man becomes first patient in Ireland to receive ground-breaking cell therapy for blood cancer

In a first for Ireland, a patient at St James’s Hospital in Dublin has received a cell therapy treatment for lymphoma. This is a significant development for blood cancer patients and is the first time Chimeric Antigen Receptor –T cell (CAR-T) therapy is being delivered in Ireland.
