I have wanted to tell this story for 27 years. It started when I replied to a job ad in the DCU newsletter, which had been placed by the Centre for Independent Living (CIL). A future doctor from Athlone was amongst those who donned caps and gowns as they graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland School of Medicine (RCSI) as part of the College’s summer graduation ceremonies. Dr. James Flynn was one of 283 graduates in attendance at the event which took place in the Convention Centre in Dublin.
