Galway based social entrepreneurs Brandon Blacoe from Salthill and Eibhlin O’Riordan from Knocknacarra, co-founders of ByoWave received the Social Entrepreneurs Ireland Impact Award at an event in Dublin last week.

Established in 2015, the Oranmore Men’s Shed acts as a social platform through which men in a community can form close bonds with one another. These sheds are affiliated to the Irish Men’s Sheds Association, a broad network consisting of over 450 sheds throughout Ireland.

With an estimated 449 men living with dementia within County Westmeath, the Irish Men’s Sheds Association has launched a new manual ‘Your Shed & Dementia’, aimed at raising awareness of the condition, as well as offering advice for ‘Shedders’, their families and carers on supporting a member with dementia.

The Irish Men’s Sheds Association will host the world’s largest-ever Men’s Sheds Gathering at the National University of Ireland, Galway in August 2020.
