Cllr Frankie Keena has warmly welcomed the news that the IDA has recently purchased c22.74 hectares (56.2 acres) of undeveloped lands in Athlone for future industry. The acquisition forms part of the organisation’s objective to fund the development of property and infrastructure in the region which supports the requirements of mobile Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), Cllr Keena stated.

Three government departments are collaborating to devise a radical package of measures to address the traffic-congestion crisis at Parkmore on foot of a meeting between Minister Simon Coveney and Galway TD Hildegarde Naughton last month.

Consultation will begin this week on short-term and medium-term solutions to the ongoing problem of traffic congestion in the vicinity of Parkmore Business and Technology Park.
