A march through Galway city centre to demand that "every child needs a home' will take place this weekend, following the release of recent figures from COPE showing more than 150 children in Galway are homeless.

Galway Circuit Court will today hear 82 repossession cases of principal home dwellings and buy-to-let properties. The Galway Housing Action Group will hold a rally outside the courts at 12 noon to highlight the situation of homelessness, repossessions, and evictions.

Building 14 houses this year, and plans to construct 250 between 2017 and 2020, will not solve, or even begin to address the housing crises in Galway city, where some 15,000 people are on the housing waiting list.

A protest against the rise in the number of people sleeping rough in Galway, and the continuing problem of housing and accommodation, will take place outside City Hall on Monday February 13 at 3.30pm.
