Big cleanup commences for deluge-hit Clifden
Homeowners and businesses in Clifden are counting the cost this evening (Wednesday) after serious flooding hit the town early today when the Owenglin river overtopped. Schools were closed on the orders of gardai and 17 properties including homes and a hotel were evacuated as waters rose.
Connacht homecoming to be held Sunday afternoon in the city
Galway City Council joins in congratulating our triumphant heroes of the Connacht Rugby team following their great win earlier today in the Guinness Pro12 Final in Edinburgh. To honour their success, they will travel on an open-top bus through the streets of Galway City on Sunday May 29 at 4.00pm to travel to the Sportsground for a heroes’ welcome.
