Enjoy free yoga by the shore in Galway with Think Before You Flush
The Think Before You Flush campaign has partnered with the Galway Atlantaquaria and Sinéad Mc Kiernan of Move & Breathe to deliver a family friendly yoga session followed by a beach clean. A presentation on water quality and how our activities in our bathrooms and kitchens can impact Irelands marine environment will play after the clean. The next free events take place at Ladies Beach in Salthill on June, 15 at 10am followed by Grattan Beach (Salthill) on June, 22 at 10am. All are welcome to join!

Last Monday, a group of students from 5th and 6th class from Kilglass National School in Co Galway delivered their 1.5 metre unmanned mini sailboat called ‘Seoltóir Na Gaillimhe – the Galway Sailor’ to the Marine Institute’s research vessel, RV Celtic Explorer, in Galway Harbour.

The Inishbofin Summer school is Ireland’s longest running environmental school, which has welcomed a host of scientists, poets, writers, artists to work with teachers and the general public over the last 35 years. The school, which was first established by Leo Hallissey and Clare O‘Toole in 1984, has grown to become a highlight in the island’s yearly calender.
Lancer model boat story draws children to the sea
This week, Foras na Mara (The Marine Institute) Galway, invited a large group of Sea Scouts from Gasoga Mara na Gaeltachta, Lettermore to Grattan Beach. The ‘Explore the shore’ event was designed as part of a series of celebrations around the discovery of the Lancer model boat by local schoolgirl, eight-year-old Méabh Ní Ghionnáin.
