GMIT has created a new Department of Engineering Apprenticeships and has appointed James Boyle as the new head of department. The move comes in response to growing demand and in line with the Government’s recently launched Action Plan for Apprenticeship 2021 – 2025.

A student at GMIT’s National Centre for Excellence in Furniture Design and Technology in Letterfrack has been selected to join an Irish team competing in WorldSkills 2017, taking place in in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates from 14 to 19 October.

Cian Mulligan, a student at GMIT’s National Centre for Excellence in Furniture Design and Technology in Letterfrack, has been ranked sixth in the Cabinetmaking World Skills Competition held in São Paulo, Brazil. Mr Mulligan also won a medallion for excellence due to his outstanding performance.
