An innovative GMIT-led project supporting the growth and sustainability of female food entrepreneurs in the European Union has been shortlisted in the Green Gown Awards 2020 (UK and Ireland).

GMIT has announce an exciting programme of events to celebrate this year’s International Women’s Day on the theme ‘Each for Equal’ (#EachforEqual). International Women’s Day on March 8 celebrates the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women and is a collective day of global celebration and a call for gender equality. GMIT is marking this special day with a series of events running until March 12 in all campuses.

Internationally renowned sports scientist and researcher, Professor Tim Gabbett, will deliver a seminar and workshop on the topics ‘Pain to Performance’ and ‘Train Smarter and Harder’ in GMIT next week. The events are being organised by John Duggan, lecturer on the BSc (hons) sports and exercise science and Dr Lisa Ryan, head of the GMIT Department of Natural Sciences.

GMIT has this week launched initiative aimed at fostering and promoting healthy living in the workplace for both staff and students. The initiative, launched by Minister of State Catherine Byrne, includes a ban on smoking and vaping on campus, nutrition awareness, consent workshops, and positive mental health initiatives among a raft of measures.

High profile entrepreneurs to deliver part-time course at the Galway campus

GMIT has been awarded funding for a unique project called Creating Entrepreneurs in Food, which aims to build food innovation and entrepreneurship-focused rural communities and economies in the west, and develop a model for Ireland and Europe.
