And in ten days, the Galway Garden Festival is back for round three, and this time it is to spawn a series of events that will see the lights on at the castle for months to come. Galway has many festivals, and indeed, many festivals in July, all honed over the years into something special. But none of these made the instant impact that the Galway Garden Festival did when it was inaugurated in 2010, over two days of differing climatic conditions at the beautifully-restored Claregalway Castle.

Graiguenamanagh is once again hosting its annual Town of Books Festival this September 19, and boasts a variety of events.

As interest in ‘growing it yourself’ reaches fever pitch in Westmeath, details of the GIY 2010 conference, which takes place on Saturday September 18 at the Guinness Storehouse, Dublin, have been announced. The theme of this year’s conference is ‘Together We Grow’ and the event is aimed at GIY local champions and anyone who is interested in finding out more about GIY.

Sustainability, local food, and ‘grow your own’, are central themes to this year’s Bloom festival, which will take place in the Phoenix Park, Dublin, over the June Bank Holiday weekend.
