Galway Film Fleadh will stage three World Premieres and three Irish Premieres from the 35th edition of the film festival taking place from 11 – 16 July in the Town Hall Theatre and Pálás Cinema. Irish Film Talent is to the fore of programming at the Fleadh alongside World Cinema, award winning Documentaries and Irish and International Short Films. Audiences can look forward to powerful, moving, funny and provocative storytelling from both emerging and renowned filmmakers.

Winners out west —13 IFTA nominations for TG4

This year’s IFTA Film and Drama awards have welcomed thirteen nominations for TG4-funded films. The 18th Irish Film and Television Academy Awards recognise Irish creative talent working in film, drama, and television, and will take place in March. Ten of the TG4 nominations were received by An Cailín Ciúin alone. Foscadh received two nominations, and Doineann has one.

Galway Film Fleadh have announced the subjects of their 2019 Masterclasses in the fields of Screenwriting, Directing and Acting. The annual series of Masterclasses will this year feature actor Will Forte, writer/director Allison Anders and writer/director Gurinder Chadha, imparting their experience to professionals and trainees in their field, as part of the 2019 Galway Film Fleadh (July 9-14, 2019).
