Banshees — stunningly beautiful and chat-inspiring
BEN O’GORMAN
The Legendary Dark Silkie Irish Whiskey
Tales of the Silkie have been told by firelight by Seanchaí for hundreds of years and it is along the rugged coastlines of the Atlantic where these stories are strongest, with tales of Seal-like creatures climbing ashore and shapeshifting into enchanting beings, seducing unexpecting locals to eventually retreat back to the sea and their original form leaving broken hearts in their wake.
Fairies and pookas in The Claddagh
These two women are chatting at the doorway of a Claddagh house on Dogfish Lane c1920. The lane is cobbled, the geese and hens are pecking around, the thatch roof is perfect, there are flowers on the windowsill, everything is calm and peaceful, but what are they talking about? Could it be about piseógs, about the ‘good people’, the fairies, the banshee?
People of the Tribes: Meet Clíodhna.
Haigh, is mise Clíodhna! I was born and raised in Dublin, but I have been living in Galway since 2008. I have strong family connections to the picturesque village of Spiddal and decided to move to Galway for college, where I completed a BA in Mathematics and Nua-Ghaeilge and an MA in Nua-Ghaeilge from NUIG. I have always been interested in fashion and style, and would spend hours dressing up in my Mamó’s clothing running my own little fashion shows! I have fourteen years fashion retail experience and I am currently employed as the senior stylist and visual merchandiser in the Lanidor boutique on 30 Eyre St. One of the greatest things about working in retail is that you never know where the day is going to take you and no two days in Lanidor boutique are the same. I love helping people find their style and updating their wardrobes with new pieces from the shop. I have a very creative mind and my role in Lanidor gives me the opportunity to do a job that I am very passionate about, a place where I can let my personal creativity shine through and work off my own initiative doing a job that I love.
