THIS HAS been a year without gigs, concerts, or festivals, and yet, it has still been a year which has given us some outstanding music. Here is my selection of the best albums of 2020.

Rock legend Robert Plant; songwriting legend Burt Bacharach; five world premiers and two Irish and two European premieres for theatre; an on street silent disco/flash mob, and major public discussions on Brexit and climate change - this is the Galway International Arts Festival 2019.

THIS YEAR has seen the emergence of an array of very exciting new indie-rock artists, with female performers - as has been a very noticeable trend in recent years - arguably producing the best music of the last 12 months.

EZRA FURMAN is simply not interested in conforming to anyone's stereotypes: gender fluid, non-binary, gay, a believer in God, he is unapologetic about it all - an individual in the truest sense then.
