A scheme that would facilitate housing for Irish born emigrants who wish to return home has been proposed by Cllr. Evelyn Parsons.

Local Cllr Evelyn Parsons has called on the Minister for Transport to immediately intervene in the reinstatement of a multi-stop bus services along the Galway-Ballinasloe-Dublin route. This follows the decision by the National Transport Authority not to introduce a new route to following Aircoach’s decision to cease operating on the route.

Sixty patients have attended a regional menopause clinic since it was set up in November of last year. The facility, which is based at University Hospital Galway, is a specialist service for women with additional needs around menopause care. Women are referred to the clinic which is open one afternoon per week.

Calls are being made for the Galway County Council running track in Dunlo, Ballinasloe, to have its hours of operation extended from 7am to 9pm and for it to open on Sundays and Bank Holidays.

Local Independent Deputy, Denis Naughten, has revealed there is a 60 percent reduction in the number of buses facilitating patients and visitors attending Portiuncula University Hospital as a result of the decision by the National Transport Authority not to replace the lost Bus Éireann services.
