Last fall, I came to the Emerald Isle from India to set free a pipe dream of pursuing creative writing. I was going to begin at the beginning with a master’s programme at the National University of Ireland, Galway. Carrying the biggest bags, I’d ever travelled with and taking the longest flight I’d ever been on, I came with a light mind that had only two things on it: the focused practice of creative writing and immersion into the Irish culture.

The best films of 2018
1. First Reformed: My number one film of the year and walking in I thought I would hate it. Powerful performance from Ethan Hawke playing a priest questioning his faith in the modern world. The ending has been divisive, but to me the film does not work without it.

Annie and Duncan are a reasonably happy couple in their late thirties living in a seaside town in England. Duncan has an obsession - he hosts a fan page for nineties musician Tucker Crowe. Crowe is a kind of Jeff Buckley like singer who disappeared after recording one great album - Juliet, Naked.
