THE GALWAY Film Centre, Galway Film Fleadh, and RTÉ have announced a new Short Film Commission Scheme, with writers invited to submit a story idea that could eventually become a short film.

THE MOST comprehensive presentation to date of the work of Gareth Kennedy, the award winning Irish artist, who co-represented Ireland at the 53rd Venice Biennale in 2009, opens this week in Galway.

Galway has become the only Irish city, and one of only five cities in the world, to be designated a UNESCO City of Film. The winning of the title could also prove “enormously beneficial” to the city’s on-going bid to be named European Capital of Culture 2020.  

THE GALWAY Film Centre, in association with RTÉ, is seeking entries for the 2013 Short Film Awards, with a prize of two cash awards of €9,500 each.

A new website - www.screenwest.ie - is being launched this week by the Galway Film Centre as an information portal which seeks to attract film makers and television producers to the west of Ireland.
