A new public art commission is set to be unveiled at the Tubber Hill housing development in Westport next week. All is Well, a visual art installation by Cathal McCarthy and commissioned by Mayo County Council Arts Service, will be officially launched at on Saturday October 7 2pm by Damien McGlynn, director of CREATE. All are welcome and refreshments will be provided.

Two of the leading challengers in the race for the 2023 Galway senior hurling championship suffered unexpected defeats last weekend as Castlegar and Killimordaly recorded wins over Sarsfields and Clarinbridge respectively.

Sarsfields and Clarinbridge served up the game of the weekend in the Brooks Group Galway Senior Hurling Championship when they played out a thrilling draw in Duggan Park on Sunday evening.

The first round of the Brooks Group Senior Hurling Championship went to script for the main contenders. Five-in-a-row chasing St Thomas’, perennial challengers Turloughmore, and last year’s beaten finalists Clarinbridge, all registered wins as the race for the Tom Callanan Cup got underway.

St Thomas’ remain on track for a fourth county title win in a row after comprehensively out-hurling Gort in the re-arranged senior semi-final that took place last Sunday in Pearse Stadium.
