Final consents signed off on Corrib gas project

Shell to Sea has criticised a decision by Minister for Energy Pat Carey to sign consents for the last section of the Corrib gas pipeline on the day of the General Election. Permission has been granted for the construction of a gas pipeline from the Corrib gas field subsea facilities to the Corrib gas terminal at Bellanaboy and for an approval of an addendum to the Plan of Development for the Corrib gas field development.

Mayo championship draw has focused clubs’ attention

The draw for the Mayo Club Championship last Monday night has the 16 clubs in the senior and intermediate championships along with those in both the Junior A and B championships plotting and planning for the summer ahead. At Monday night’s draw it was also announced that Midfield based catering company Trenalaur Catering would be the official sponsor of the Mayo senior championship for the coming year, with Westport based courier company Jim Hogan Couriers sponsoring the Mayo senior hurling championship.

•GMIT Surf Club Team claimed silver at All Ireland Surf Intervarsities in Antrim recently. Eoin Murphy - a second year event management student in GMIT - flew through his heats in small but challenging waves with clean lines and tight turns. He eventually surfed his way into second position, claiming the silver medal. Also representing GMIT was Padraic Alan O’Conaire who claimed second place in the body boarding category. He scored high marks due to his technical 360 turns and clean lines.
