Spreading the Pride

The Galway Community Pride Festival will take place this weekend and the event includes a show which takes place tomorrow (Friday) in the Bank of Ireland Theatre beside the College Bar at NUI Galway. Gender Fabulosity is being organised by Galway Pride member Ivan Fahy and is described as a ‘gender liberating fashion show’ which is about people enjoying themselves and expressing themselves in the way they want to, and feel most comfortable.

County Mayor gets on board the ‘Out and Proud’ Road Show

The County Mayor, Cllr Thomas Welby, has this week launched Social Inclusion Awareness Week in Clann Family Resource Centre, Oughterard, an event which was held in conjunction with the launch of the ‘Out and Proud’ Road Show.

To celebrate Social Inclusion Week 2011, The Out and Proud Roadshow has been organised to raise awareness of the Family Resource Centres’ Western Region LGBT Network, which provides local supports to members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community.

A new report has highlighted that gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people living in Mayo and throughout the west of Ireland are being discriminated against.
