Westport Festival of Chamber Music all set for September recitals
The first Westport Festival of Chamber Music will be held on September 6 to 8. Tickets for the event are on sale in the Clew Bay Hotel and online at www.classicallinks.ie. Both Westport House and Holy Trinity Church are perfect venues for live music performances, providing a most appropriate setting for a music festival.

Launched on Monday evening by Minister Jimmy Deenihan, the 37th Westport Arts Festival is under way. Providing its typically quirky and diverse line-up of acts, it spans two full weeks this year, from October 1 to 14, with something on offer for all ages and tastes. Afternoon of classical sounds coming to Westport
Violinist Catherine Leonard and pianist Hugh Tinney will visit Westport on Sunday 7 October for an afternoon concert at 4pm in Holy Trinity Church as part of Westport Arts Festival. Their programme artfully combines two Beethoven sonatas (No.6 and the "Kreutzer" Sonata) with Westport born Raymond Deane’s “Parthenia Violata” and Ravel’s Sonata in G major.

A magical night of classical music
The distinguished violin and piano duo of Catherine Leonard and Hugh Tinney will tour to Roscommon Arts Centre today, Friday October 15 at 8pm. This duo has a special affinity with Beethoven’s music and will perform two of his sonatas for violin and piano (No.3 and No.10). They will also play James Wilson’s Sonata No.5 written for the duo in 2001 together with Debussy’s sonata which Leonard describes as being “full of fantastical elements and jazzy rhythms”.
