Boys and girls gathered in great numbers for the even-ages Juvenile B cross-country championships at a sun-drenched Kilmacow course on Sunday. The hard-working members of host club, St Senan’s, marshalled a well laid out course and with Ed Williams on the whistle there was no letup from start to finish. Kilkenny City Harriers (KCH), winners of the A Championships last month were again out in force and were very much to the fore, particularly in the girls’ races. The Castlecomer club were strong in the boys’ races.

Former Kilkenny hurling all-star Brian McEvoy displayed his talent for the round ball as he scored a hat-trick of first-half goals for county senior football champions James Stephens. They easily defeated Cashel (Longford) in the Leinster intermediate club football championship in Larchfield last Sunday afternoon.
