Chipper assault trio lucky to avoid jail
Three men involved in a street assault that saw their victim temporarily blinded by a kick in the face were told in court this week (February 1): “If they had any previous convictions they would’ve gone to prison today”, and warned “they could be faced with a substantial civil claim in the future”.

O'Loughlin Gaels remain on course for automatic qualification to the knockout stages of the 2011 championship with a good win over Tullaroan at the weekend. Again the O'Loughlin’s talisman was Mark Bergin who scored an impressive 12 points. There were some very good performance all around the field for O'Loughlin’s including those from Niall Bergin and Martin Comerford.

O'Loughlin Gaels qualified for the Leinster SHC final with a 1-21 to 3-11 extra-time victory over Dublin champions Ballyboden St Enda's at the weekend. Conal Keaney gave the Dublin side a dream start with an early goal, but Brian Dowling responded with a goal that gave his side a 1-7 to 1-6 half-time lead.
