Eamon Morrissey, one of our best loved actors, comes to the Town Hall Theatre next week with his latest, much acclaimed, one-man show, Maeve’s House, inspired by the writings of the brilliant short story writer Maeve Brennan.

Film Mayo was delighted to have internationally renowned film director Pat O’Connor as its special guest for the launch of Film Mayo, which took place before Christmas. Pat has a very special relationship with Mayo since filming The Ballroom of Romance in Ballycroy in the early eighties. He has very fond memories of his time in Mayo, particularly the warmth of the people in Ballycroy. The reason that Pat agreed to be the special guest at the launch of Film Mayo was because of the affection he holds in his heart for Mayo. During his recent visit Pat talked of how shooting in Mayo was a very special time for him and one of the most fulfilling experiences that he has ever had film-making.

The Ballycroy Ballroom of Romance photo exhibition is a collection of photos that have never been seen before. They were taken by Dublin native photographer Terry O’Brien who came to live in Achill over 30 years ago and subsequently moved to Bunratty in Clare where he currently works in Bunratty Folk Park as a period photographer and also freelance.

GLASSLAND AND Patrick’s Day were declared the joint winners of the Best Irish Feature accolade during the Galway Film Fleadh awards ceremony which took place last night.

MICK LALLY’s life and work will be remembered and celebrated this Sunday from 5pm when Sean Tyrrell, Johnny Mulhearn, Wally Page, Johnny Moynihan, Tony Small, Lena Ullman, Eugene Lambe, Terry Smith, and Mary Staunton take to the stage for Music and Song Tribute to Mick Lally in Monroe’s Live.
