image preview

Taoiseach Enda Kenny has welcomed investment of €3.48 million for three Mayo projects as part of Better Energy Communities funding allocations. The funding will ensure local homes, community and commercial facilities will become more energy efficient thanks to government funding. The projects include a wide range of upgrades to fabric (insulation), heating systems, lighting and solar heating. At least three categories of local projects here in Mayo will receive direct funding of €1,794,928 from the Better Energy Communities (BEC) scheme administered by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland.

Take part in the magical Boheh Stone Walk next week

image preview

The Croagh Patrick Heritage Trail is hosting a community walk and talk to the Boheh Stone on Wednesday next, August 24. Immerse yourself in Mayo’s pre-historic culture, and view the Boheh Stone, a unique Neolithic feature. This is a guided walk, in conjunction with Mayo Heritage Week. Join local archaeologists to hear about this site and (weather permitting) experience the amazing Rolling Sun phenomenon for yourself, where the sun appears to roll down the side of Croagh Patrick at dusk. There are more details online at www.croaghpatrickheitagetrail.com.
