The students of Salerno Secondary School visited Renault Galway to see first hand if Bill Cullen and his representative in Galway Cathal Byrne, needed some new apprentices.

Monday night saw TV3 bring the successful TV show The Apprentice to the streets of Galway. Sponsored by Bank of Ireland, the candidates had to choose two local businesses to sell and promote their local produce. Team Zest went with the two businesses they felt would produce the most sales on the day - Martin Divilly’s butchers of Westside and Goya’s café and bakery of Kirwan’s Lane.

Given the opportunity, what would you ask the Government to change? That was just one of the questions put to students in a research study released by the BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition. Mayo students were amongst those from secondary schools throughout Ireland who took the opportunity to reflect on their education and hopes for their future.

Supermac’s, Ireland’s largest indigenous fast food chain was the latest company to appear on TV3’s The Apprentice. The Apprentice which is the same format as in the UK and the US, but this time the boss, Irish entrepreneur Bill Cullen, is offering the successful candidate a role working in his organisation for 12 months and a salary of €100,000. The launch of the show has been a great success.
